Outstanding Federal Court Decision

A Federal Court has issued a ruling against the Bush Administration’s claims to executive privilege. I’ve always gone back and forth on this power of the executive because it seems that it is so ripe for abuse. I understand the need for it, but it’s scope must be very narrow to avoid said abuse. Partisan loyalties aside, the unbridled increase in power that this administration has sought is in my mind, completely contrary to the idea of checks and balances. Well done judge.

Once again, your unbridled enthusiasm for damning GWB will be wiped out by the law – when a less then partisan judge (whatever his alleged political ties may or may not be) looks at the case objectively.
All executives – all people for that matter – have this license, perhaps you could consider it akin to attorney-client privilege. Certainly I could be wrong, but I think the Administration will win on appeal, based on the need for candid information and discussion amongst and between advisors. Similar to the energy debate complaint lodged against Mr. Cheney – what heresy to talk to energy companies about energy – everyone knows you should first consult the Sierra Club first – but I digress.
So the idea that an executive or The executive (or his council) cannot have private advise and communications with and about policy (even when not subject to national security) is ludicrous.
If a law was broken (these people serve at the leisure of the President – Mr. Clinton sacked just about all the REPUBLICAN U.S. attorneys under his administration – perfectly legal) – which it was NOT – what you have is a judge capitulating to the fained cry of foul from Waxman, Pelosi, Reid and Schumer et al. CA-CA, I say!
Have not had I chance to read Mr. Obama’s plans yet – hence the lack of response; I’m out of town all week – will get to at some point, I promise.
Still puzzled why you are hanging around at nude beaches while a couple “enjoyed a handjob” – and you wonder why your web hits have soared under the naked guys camping search!
Stay well.
