“Things Are a Little Different Here”

by Brendan Anthony on July 17th, 06:07pm 2008

On the Canadian side of Niagara, Scott and I came upon a thin young police officer speaking with some of our fellow Americans. The American father figure, a portly mustachioed guy in a red shirt, walked up to the cop and leaned over to look across his hip. He was surprised- “You’re not armed!” The cop’s reaction was classic. In a that soft-spoken Canadian way:

“Things are a little different here”

Turned out the American was a former police officer himself, so they had a nice conversation. Scott and I went on to use that phrase several times in the course of our visit to Canadia- classic!

Enjoying the reading!! Joe called last night and said “do you know where your son is” ? I am glad you are going to visit. Alice wanted Joe to call to find out what you would eat other than “pizza and French fries”. He is amazing with his memory. I am sending some papers to you at their house - your KOA card. Love you!!
