Leaving DC

Yesterday Scott and I left DC after a weeklong-plus stay. Things I learned:
- Mike and Emily are going to name one of their new puppies Chubs, which coincidentally was once the nickname for my penis. Hope they enjoy that for the next 15 years!
- Dan is, like Scott, enraged at Obama over the FISA capitulation and is (unlike Scott) thinking about not bothering to vote for him. Personally I just don’t understand it. I get that Obama has to move to the middle now. I thought the way you did that was by picking positions that were popular amongst “regular folks” but not necessarily with your own party. This warrantless wiretapping thing seems like a loser in that regard- one of the few issues on which the liberals really needed to stick to their guns. Maybe I’m too wine and cheese to understand.
- It’s tough to leave my friends. I’m already missing the people I saw this week all over again. I don’t even know what the future holds after this trip ends, but one way or the other it’ll be at least half a year before I see them again- that makes me sad. I’m sure they will all miss me terribly.

This is my favorite picture from last week, while we were playing the movie game. Sorry Scott, but if you listened to the rules the first time, we wouldn’t have moments like this!
