Departure
When we finally left a day and a half late, it was nice to have my family in the driveway on the way out. I do owe my dad an apology for tearing off without adequate patience for more pictures but it was definitely nice have everyone there. Patti and George Breen (Neighbors and Second Parents) were out in their driveway to wave goodbye as well. As we pulled out of Sand Lake toward the Mass Border on Rt 66, I raised my hands into the air in what felt like triumph… I had a goal, and it had been achieved.
I love Boston. I love being a red sox fan in Boston. Now, I also love Somerset. After arriving later last night after a cold ride and some equipment malfunction, we headed to a local pub for some liquid and solid fuel. I immediately made the mistake of asking the waitress for her recommendation on beer and was promptly served a $9.00, small glass of beer. it was dark and flavorful, but really just reminded me of Sam Adams. Clearly needing something to wash that down with, I ordered a California Burger. This concoction had avocado, bacon, cheese and came with a side of sweet potato fries….oh baby tonight! My obsession with sweet potato fries started a few years ago in a Bickfords restaurant while dining with Mr. Brian Clark and the Patton family. It wasn’t long however, after we started serving them at work, that I found that I needed to limit my consumption…their flavor never got old to me…always delicious. That one beer was all I needed to call it a night after what had been a hellacious week.
