Hillary Clinton is proud of the fact that her gas-tax plan isn’t endorsed by a single economist:

Mrs. Clinton did not. “I’m not going to put in my lot with economists,” she said on the ABC program “This Week.” A few moments later, she added, “Elite opinion is always on the side of doing things that really disadvantages the vast majority of Americans.”

What a counter-productive cycle she’s gotten herself into. She thinks the best way to win the election, and her instincts have certainly been proven many times over, is to pander to voters. Voters are worried about the high price of gas, so she’ll throw a quick-fix, election winning idea at the problem. Never mind that it won’t do any good, or be bad for the country in the long run- only an “elite” or (shudder) an expert would hold that opinion.

America never ceases to amaze me. It couldn’t be clearer that this kind of thinking has led us down the wrong path. But who cares about that- my uncle told me that Obama might be a secret Muslim!
